I am not sure if I should cry or shout???
Maybe this is good or maybe not so much.
I am not sure – if I should say anything.
I am not a God. I am not a judge.
I am not perfect in any way.
So I will play a song first and say it anyway.

We can easily say that over course of last 28 years nothing has been done in the U.S. to improve the life of teenagers. Especially from the point of view of sexual activities – the situation worsened dramatically. Most of the teenagers are totally abandoned from a social perspective. The great land of US is becoming a dead land for youngsters. We can conclude based on research done by me that there is no protection of any values in America.

                              Testimony of a teen

Sexuality is a major thing around teens today from talking about it to doing it. After being around many teens, talking with friends, and doing research I learned much about teens and their sexual desires and actions. Most of my statements come from statistics and talking with friends.

Many teens by the ages of 14-17 lose their virginity and before that it’s the main topic of most conversations. I can easily admit that by the age of 10 the average boy begins watching porn, 11 begins masturbating, and 12 begins taking about it. By 11 most girls begin masturbating and by 13 most are openly talking about it with friends and thinking about it.

Most of my friends talk about sex amongst their piers (friends or people who look up to them) through sexual jokes and their fantasies and desires. They talk about sex through jokes and honest statements about what they like. Many of my friends also talk about their preference on condoms and different ways of protection. Most prefer bareback sex and will pull out when they feel the urge.

In today’s society a lot of teens are even choosing to start families without thinking of the consequences. Most don’t think of the risk that could come along with having sex early including sexual diseases and having children early. I myself have chosen to wait until older or marriage but most don’t. Some teens even go on chat sights and look for people to hook up with and have sex with unaware of the creepers who fake people and steal them. Many teens get pulled into human trafficking each day because of this. Many pedophiles search the Internet faking pics, ages, and names trying to get hold of young teen boys and girls. Most don’t ever come out of human trafficking and it’s how they live for the rest of their lives.

Some teens simply have to live with getting pregnant or being the father and either being forced to marry the other or have to worry about child support or getting a disease. Some get emotionally scared because of a bad experience and can’t have sex when there are older. They don’t realize that their talk between each other is much different than what real sex is and get scarred. This is why in my opinion teens should wait until marriage or when they are older to have sex when they can mentally and physically handle it.

The End
*    *    *

In my opinion I would like to say that very loudly and clearly that there is no clear policy in the U.S. to protect teens so far.

It is especially painful because we hear all over the place how important it is to protect kids. How we do everything for our kids. How our children are the most important and how much we sacrifice for them. Still numbers show how much we are failing to provide basics – a good start into adult life!!!

Next directly from the subject of kids protection we have all this discussion if gay people should have a right to take care of kids or not. Right? We are so divided on that and we fight between each other till we drop dead. It is unprecedented for some even to imagine that. We are so quickly jumping to our guns when this topic comes up. All because of kids protection. We are even able to hate if someone has other ideas than us. We have to protect family values. It is the mission of our lives! I understand and I agree but how is the situation on the ground?

SG6

Finally we have the most divisive issue of abortion. Oooo …Here we can go beyond anything. No mercy. No way! But what is happening in real time?

So let’s say We tend to think that we are a great nation. A tribe of wonderful family values and we will never give up on that. Right!  But what are our kids doing meanwhile. Ooo… We are too busy fighting for their future to check it out.

And there are so many conversations about sex education at school. How it should be done. Should we talk about being gay there or not, how we should talk about it at all and stuff like that. But what do the numbers and statistics tell us?

And this…You will post some improper picture on Facebook or Google or whatever and you are done, you are blocked. You can’t do that! How could you?  It is against our values and we have to protect our kids! They may see it and this is unacceptable. I am not saying that we should be allowed to do that. However, let’s see the whole picture and our deep hypocrisy on that. I will explain further why I think that we completely lost touch in that area and we are drifting far away from reality.

DepressedTeen

So us adults, being caught up in our fights and political issues, having all range of opinions – well everyone has some opinion about that – forgot the most crucial thing. What our kids are really doing meanwhile. We tend to hit so hard here and there during this battle it is such an important one! It is about our kids!  And what is happening at that time in kids land in teenagers kingdom. Do you know? Do you ever bother to check it out? I just did. I thought it could be an interesting subject to talk with them directly. What I found out was totally shocking. I could not believe. I was sure that they were making it up. I thought they want to appear smart and ready to enter the adult world. We know that they wish to be seen like grownups as much as possible. That validates them. That gives them identity and feelings of independence and respect. I think that is what they think.

podrostkovaya-depressiya-eto-ochen-opasno

So after talking with them I was completely knocked down. The knowledge I gathered on the ground  combined with research was extremely devastating. Naturally I went for numbers and statistics and I discovered that we don’t know almost anything as of this present moment. We have some stats but it is totally old and it is designed in a way that we should feel that all is getting better and better. It is sort of communist propaganda when information from the street is unpleasantly overwhelming.

Can you imagine that we really don’t know how many teenagers we have now in US?  So if we don’t even know how many teens are in this or that age group, how can we get a calibrated picture at all? How for example we can conduct any  scientific  exploration and track the data if we are improving or not.

So because of that because we really don’t know I will say it is getting more terrible from year to year. Teens are left totally unchecked. They are left alone and going wild and that could not be any more  damaging for the greatest nation on the planet. We are now in a phase of producing a future tragedy and it can appear and be increasing in intervals  of every  5 to 10 years.

During this time we are focusing on less important fights about words and semantics when the young generation is falling apart on the road to great disparity.

How big is the problem?

In some estimation we have around  21.5 million teenagers in US between the ages of 15 and 19. (It is 4 year old information).

My further research brought me to understanding that provided data is very inaccurate and shows just the tip of the iceberg. It  can only present to you the scope of the problem but can’t show you the whole picture.

Here are some of my scientific findings:

Think teen culture in America is just about hanging out with friends, movies and fun? While they are not representative of every teenager, they do point to what goes on in American teen culture.

Statistics on Teen Sex

-Nationally, more than half of teenagers are virgins until they are at least 17 years of age (Sex and America’s Teenagers, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, New York, 1994).

Editorial note: according to this information above we can conclude that around 10 million teenagers are not virgins between age 12 and 17. I am not sure how good that news is.

-In the U.S., 7 in 10 women who had sex before age 14, and 6 in 10 of those who had sex before age 15 report having had sex involuntarily. (Facts in Brief: Teen Sex and Pregnancy, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, New York, 1996).

-Nationally, one-quarter of 15 year old females and less than 30% of 15 year old males have had sex, compared with 66% of 18 year old females, and 68% of 18 year old males who have had sexual intercourse. (A Statistical Portrait of Adolescent Sex, Contraception, and Childbearing, National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, Washington, DC, 1998).

Statistics on Teen pregnancy

-Nationally, nearly one million young women under age 20 become pregnant each year. That means close to 2800 teens get pregnant each day.( Facts in Brief: Teen Sex and Pregnancy, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, New York, 1996).

-Approximately 4 in 10 young women in the U.S. become pregnant at least once before turning 20 years old.( Facts in Brief: Teen Sex and Pregnancy, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, New York, 1996).

-Teen childbearing alone costs U.S. taxpayers nearly $7 billion annually for social services and lost tax revenues. (Kids Having Kids: Economic Costs and Social Consequences of Teen Pregnancy, Prebecca Maynard (ed.), The Urban Institute, Washington, DC, 1997).

Statistics on Rape in Teen:

-Teens 16 to 19 were three and one-half times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault. (National Crime Victimization Survey. Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice, 1996.)

-According to the Justice Department, one in two rape victims is under age 18; one in six is under age 12. [Child Rape Victims, 1992. U.S. Department of Justice.]

-While 9 out of 10 rape victims are women, men and boys are also victimized by this crime. In 1995, 32,130 males age 12 and older were victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault. [National Crime Victimization Survey. Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice, 1996.]

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Among Teens

-In the U.S., 1 in 4 sexually active teens become infected with an STD every year. Some common STDs are chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital warts (also known as HPV – human papillomavirus), and herpes. (Facts in Brief: Teen Sex and Pregnancy, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, New York, 1996).

Abortion:

Facts and Statistics on Teen Abortion -> Click

Reports indicate that there are approximately 1 million teenagers in America that become pregnant every year. Of those, 78% are unintended. Of all the teenage women that become pregnant, 35% choose to have an abortion rather than bear a child. Statistics like these indicate a problem in not only with the amount of sexual activity with teens, but with their decision once they find out they are pregnant.

At Choices, we are a resource for teenagers and young women searching for answers when it comes to their pregnancy. Whether you are thinking about an abortion or simply unsure about what your next decision should be, we provide the resources and knowledge so you can make a decision that is right for you.

What can I say after that.
I guess I will play another song:
